Help, Troubleshooting & How-Tos
For Acvstica Audio Retro-Engineered Stereo Consoles.
How To Play A Record
Record players vary in our consoles, our earlier models relied on the Pro-Ject Elemental and Pro-Ject Essential III decks and required the user to manually switch speeds by moving the belt from one rung in the motor pulley to another, while our second gen consoles (built after 2024) use Pro-Ject T1’s and Pro-Ject Debut III decks with electronic speed control.
Since every console we build is unique, we usually make a short instruction video with each console we make. Feel free to either find yours or browse through our multiple console feature set walkthroughs here.
How To Reset The Wi-Fi Network
It is totally understandable, your router, ISP (Internet Service Provider) or home changed; sometimes even relocating your console or changing the floors in your home can affect it’s signal. Our consoles use Wi-Fi to connect to your network and are beholden to everything that affects or interferes with Wi-Fi signals (which is a long list), so it is completely normal to have to reset your console and try to “retrain” it to your network again. It can also help solve common connectivity issues (like jitter, noise, audio clipping, hiccups, cuts or dropouts).
Resetting does not need to be hard or complex and you can force a reset with ease.
- Start by switching your console off completely. Leave it off for a few seconds. 10 should be more than enough (with the exception of our Kirby consoles, for which a minute is recommended). After this, your amplifier and preamp should be completely off.
- Next you’ll want to locate your “input selection button”, this is the button or switch in the control panel you typically use to switch between inputs (record player, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc…), but don’t press it down yet.
- Switch your console back to the “on” position. If your console is equipped with a status light, it should start fast blinking. This means the unit is booting up. Once this stage is cleared, a few seconds later, the status light should start blinking slower. It is here the console is looking for it’s preset Wi-Fi network, press and hold the “input selection button”. After a few seconds (give or take 5 seconds), you should hear the prompt “Entering setup mode. Follow the instructions in the app to finish the setup.”
- If you do not hear the prompt, it’s likely your volume is down. Release the “input selection button” and turn the volume knob up (usually clockwise) by a full turn or so before starting over.
- The app the console is referring to is the “4Stream” app, available in both iOS and Android. It does not require setting an account of any sort, nor is it needed for your console’s basic operation, but it is required to set up your Wi-Fi SSID (name) and WepKEY (password).
- Keep in mind our consoles are only compatible with 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi networks. They will not see nor connect to 5Ghz or Wi-Fi 6 networks. Most 5Ghz as well as Wi-Fi 6 routers allow the user to enable a 2.4Ghz network (sometimes with a different network name and/or password) since most IoT (Internet of Things) devices such as network cameras or doorbells tend to also be only compatible with 2.4Ghz networks.
- Download 4Stream App from your App Store of choice. You’ll need to allow some permissions upon first launching it, we advise allowing all. If this makes you uncomfortable, we advise deleting the 4Stream app once you’re done with setting up. Please not this is not an app we develop nor maintain.
- You may try adding your console to your network by following the instructions in the app (just like the prompt suggested). But don’t be disheartened if that fails.
- If following the instructions in the app proves fruitless, you may need to attempt a more involved setting up. Don’t worry, it is not hard, it just requires a few different steps:
- Exit the app, and force close it (that is to open your phone’s multitasking menu and close the app completely).
- Open your phone’s wi-fi settings and connect to the “Acvstica Audio Setup” network.
- If you’re on an Android device, do not leave this screen yet, as Android is smart enough to identify this network has no data connectivity (i.e. internet), but dumb enough to assume you must’ve connected to it by mistake and ask via a popup shortly if you want to stay connected. To which you ought to say yes.
- While connected to this setup network, reopen the 4Stream app. Your radio should show up as an available device. Now, we must move it to your home network by pressing the “+” sign on the top right of your screen.
- The app will show the wireless networks the radio sees. Select yours from the list. Remember, your Acvsitca Audio Radio is only compatible with 2.4Ghz; so only input your network manually if it’s hidden and you are certain it is a 2.4Ghz network. If your network is a 2.4Ghz signal, and the radio is not showing it as an option, you may be too far from your router to get enough coverage. Try moving closer to your router.
- After selecting your network name and typing in your network’s password, you should be able to follow the steps in the app. Your radios “setup” network will shut off, and shortly, both your radio and handheld device will reconnect to their respective networks.
Our Radios, Consoles and Speakers are compatible, out of the box, with Spotify Connect and Apple Airplay. This means you do not have to use the 4Stream app, once your unit is connected to your wi-fi, to use these services. To use Tidal, Pandora, Deezer and many other streaming networks, you’ll have to authorize access to them through the 4Stream app before your Acvstica Audio device shows up in your streaming service of choice’s app.
Please consider you may have a better experience if both your phone and your radio are connected to the same network.
